PROJECT BRIEF
Sustainable Behaviors @ RIT
Advanced Web & UX Design | Senior level | RIT
Working collaboratively with your assigned team, you will research and identify appropriate points of design intervention to encourage sustainable behaviors on campus at RIT.
In addition to planning, designing and building a prototype of your proposed service, your group will also work together to explain the systemic view, exploring and illustrating how it works in relationship to existing environmental, physical, institutional, and/or social factors (and more) within this campus community.
Tyler says:
When approaching this project, issues regarding sustainability were very new to me, and even more so was the concept of designing for social change. I have never really had the opportunity to create something that would improve someone’s daily habits, which made this project a little worrisome at first. This project created a lot of great insight into how we can get people to take positive steps through the use of an app.
Through working on this app and website, I have learned more about how crucial it is to see your design from more than one angle. Not everyone experiences a site or app in the same way which is why user testing can be very beneficial. It can be important to start this testing with users from the very beginning, even before visual comps are created. Also, the experience with my group made me aware of tools and resources that can make a dynamic click more easily.
